Fieldwork

I’ve been incredibly fortunate in having the opportunity to do fieldwork throughout graduate school!
Below is a snapshot of a few field sites.

Allan Hills, Antarctica – 2025-2026

COLDEX is drilling for the oldest ice on Earth to understand the atmosphere at that time (up to 6 Ma). I led the geophysics work on our team on behalf of colleagues at UW. Instruments that we deployed included ground-penetrating radar (GPR), autonomous phase-sensitive radio-echo sounder (ApRES), GPS, distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) system, and a tiltmeter.

Tindhólmur and Grímsfjall, Faroe Islands – 2023

Sample collection from analog sites for Jezero crater on Mars.

Breiðamerkurjökull, Iceland – 2023

Ground-penetrating radar work on eskers (ridges of sediment deposited by englacial or subglacial streams) as analogs for similar features on Mars.
